Reputational Damage Injunction against Whale and Dolphin Conservationist Forum (WDSF)

Posted by Dolphin Therapy Team in Dolphin Therapy NewsNo Comments »/

We have recently, on more than one occasion, reported on the activities of the Whale and Dolphin Protection Forum (WDSF). Without making any differentiation to the various facilities the WDSF is campaigning against all the dolphinariums in Turkey. In conjunction with this they are calling for a boycott for dolphinariums by Travel agencies and Hotels.

Many attempts at a constructive and relevant dialogue from our side, as also from the side of the concerned families, have been to no avail. The tone, the accusations and the actions of the WDSF have become increasingly undifferentiated and aggressive. False claims about our Installation and the keeping of our animals in Kemer have been made. Pictures of various Installations were deliberately mixed-up with the intention of giving the impression that the dolphins in all Installations were not being held correctly. All Installations in Turkey are clearly being ‘all lumped together‘. Read the rest of this entry »

Our new and modern therapy rooms

Posted by Dolphin Therapy Team in Dolphin Therapy NewsNo Comments »/

Dear Friends of the Dolphin Therapy Center in Kemer,

as perhaps some of you already know, during the Winter of 2010/2011 we moved 70 metres from our Container locality to rooms in the Hotel Mares. Even though the move was combined with a lot of stress, we now have many new and pleasing facilities. We still have a view to the sea and a comfortable sea terrace.

WDSF Campaign – Reader’s Letter

Posted by Dolphin Therapy Team in Dolphin Therapy News,Therapy Testimonials1 Comment »/

This message reached us after our report on the whale and dolphin protectors. Many thanks to family Schürbusch

First of all I would like to say that I absolutely respect and support reasonable Wildlife Conservation. Every person who puts himself out for another living being deserves acclaim.

I am a mother of a disabled child. My son has retarded development problems and suffers from fits. In the past we were more in hospitals than at home. After more than 30 fits my endurance was at an end. Again and again I saw my child unmoving with his muscles cramped, his face turning blue, for three years I couldn’t leave him for 1 second out of my sight. Then his development slowed and he was not able to do things that other children of his age had long since accomplished. Also to experience that pained my heart. I couldn’t lead a normal life.

At 3 yrs. He couldn’t speak a single word, was not alert to danger and was always falling over. My life was composed only of fear, worry about the future and visits to Therapy.

Dolphin Therapy of family Schürbusch

The visit to Kemer definitely produced the first visible progress. He began to speak, learned to climb stairs on his own and became more open and self-confident. Read the rest of this entry »

Dolphin Therapy for Louis Kuhn

Posted by Dolphin Therapy Team in Therapy TestimonialsNo Comments »/

We have returned from Louis’ dolphin therapy in Kemer – and we are absolutely overwhelmed, fascinated, happy, content and thankful ! It was wonderful !

We arrived Saturday evening on 02.10.10, shortly before midnight, at our Hotel in Kemer. Our aircraft had a technical failure and we were delayed for a few hours before we could take off. As a former Stewardess we were naturally not especially flustered but Louis also remained calm and and weathered the long journey very well.

Sunday morning we received our first visit from a therapist from the dolphin park with the invitation to a Reception and Meeting in the afternoon. At 14:00 hours we were greeted by a very friendly complete therapy team. Read the rest of this entry »

We understand your concern over the attacks from people who don’t in fact know you.

We spent 10 days for research purposes in the Onmega Therapy Center in Kemer in 2009.

We bore witness to the attention you gave to the health and well-being of the animals and also to the quality of patient care.

We welcomed altogether the openess and collaboration of the whole team, the trainers and therapists, the playful approach of the animals, the repectful understanding and the provision of service.

The complete work was great and deserves merit.

Laura Cremer

Hello Fleur,

I’m sorry that we are so late in writing, no day goes by that we and Laura don’t speak of you.

We and Laura had a very nice time with you. Laura misses Daisy and you, Fleur. In Laura’s room there hangs a big picture of you both and she still sings the Daisy song.

We also met Valerie which was very nice. She now also has pierced ears but Laura wasn’t keen.

Many things have changed since the dolphin therapy,  Laura is a big girl now and I see even bigger changes in her. e.g. She tries more to communicate by speech. The speech therapist says that the tone of her voice has changed. Lately she tries to read lips and repeat the words which is which is very important for Laura. Read the rest of this entry »

Reaction to the Animal Protectionist Report

Posted by Dolphin Therapy Team in Help, Sponsoring & StoriesNo Comments »/

This message reached us after our report on the whale and dolphin protectors. Many thanks to Carmen Viereckl

My experience of the welfare of the animals at ONMEGA are very positive. I have also worked in a dolphinarium in the Ukraine where they kept 2 Beluga whales and 2 dolphins in a 6m. deep concrete pool, separated into a show area and a rest area. Most of the time the animals are kept in the rest area, sub-divided into very small enclosures, comparable with horse boxes. Read the rest of this entry »

In Retrospect – and a few straight words…

Posted by Dolphin Therapy Team in Therapy Testimonials1 Comment »/

This message reached us after our report on the current events of the animal protectors. Many thanks to family Wunderlich

Dear Barbara – dear Team,

I spent a long time with a blank page before me because I was unsure how to put all my thoughts and feelings into words. So many occurences are worth calling to attention, so today I shall write down a few significant thoughts, of which I now know that they describe one of the most meaningful events in our lives.

Nearly 1 ½ years have gone by. More exactly – 15 months – 64 weeks, since we travelled to you – to Daisy – and we both love to look back to this special and intensive time. Not only the positive, and at the same time mystical, emanations of the dolphins worked small wonders. It was the many little aspects of the therapy that helped my daughter and I to master the challenges in our lives and which helped us to cope with the psychological stress of the past.

Today I would like to relate a small miracle:

Dolphin Therapy for JenniferTo this I must add that my little one at this point in time could not utter a sentence.

…We were at the platform again and Jennifer swam with her therapist Barbara and Daisy. As on previous days, Barbara sang the song: Daisy Daisy dance with me… and always encouraged Jenny to sing along. And all of a sudden my daughter began to sing with her. I couldn’t understand it, because I was too far away to hear my daughter’s voice, and Barbara said to Jennifer: Sing louder. And I stood on the secure platform and heard my child! She sang with Daisy, held her flippers and they swam in a circle and MY CHILD sang loud and clear! No she was yelling!!

„Daisy Daisy dance with me, here are my hands, one time there and back, it’s all so easy.“

The whole song and then once again, and I was standing on the pier and crying. I cried so loud that people started looking. My child, who couldn’t speak, who couldn’t form a sentence, was singing the whole song. I couldn’t understand it. I couldn’t believe it. But it was true.

It was one of the most moving moments in my life. Read the rest of this entry »

Onmega Dolphin Therapy Center actively supports animal protection

Posted by Dolphin Therapy Team in Dolphin Therapy News,Mixed Info2 Comments »/

A German animal protection organisation, the ‚‚Wal- und Delphinschutz-Forum (WDSF)’’, is currently causing a huge fuss on the Internet and is calling for a protest which demands a world-wide closure of Dolphinariums. A demonstration is also planned for April at our Dolphin Therapy Center in Kemer.

It is unfortunate that many of our self-named animal protectionist experts are undifferentiated, without expertise and even argue with falsehoods. They view all dolphinariums world-wide as similar, or they make totally unqualified comparisons with the massacre of dolphins in Japan.

We in the Onmega Dolphin Therapy Center cultivate a responsible interaction with Nature and our animals.

Dolphin Therapy in Kemer actively supports animal protection

We also strongly condemn some of the facilities which does not hold their dolphins in any way gently and humanely.

In the Summer of 2010 we were actively involved in freeing two dolphins from two unscrupulous businessmen in Hisarönü near Fethiye that were held in a much too small swimming pool.

Our sea-mammal rescue team is the only center for injured, stranded or ill sea mammals and turtles on the whole of the Turkish mediterranean coast.

What you should know about dolphin therapy:

  • Various scientific studies in USA, Russia, Spain, Mexico, Australia, Israel and many other countries, also Germany, have proven that dolphin therapy has an impressive effect, which many people have experienced first-hand.
  • After many years of successful research, under the management of Research Scientist Dr. Lorenzo von Fersen and his Project Manager Dr. Eva Stumpf, at the University of Würzburg, a new dolphin therapy project will be opened in Nürnberg, Germany in 2012.
  • But the best evidence are the many great and small miracles that we daily experience here, even if there are still many critics that try to dispute the scientific proof .
  • How many therapy or healing methods or other attainments of applied science have through hundreds of years of experience been successfully applied although without scientific proof?

What the Parents concerned say about dolphin therapy:

  • With the consent of the parents we publish their dolphin therapy reports on our web site.
  • Nowhere else can one find so many therapy reports in the internet
  • Moreover, one can also contact the parents by e-mail to ask questions about the therapy.

What you should know about our Dolphin Therapy Center:

  • Our dolphins are very dear to us, as if they were our own children, and they are put to use exclusively for the therapy of disabled children and adults.
  • It has never occurred in our Center that a patient has been injured by one of our animals
  • We do not offer acrobatic dolphin shows
  • We were awarded custody of the dolphins by the Turkish government, after years of strict examination, for breeding and therapy purposes in our Dolphin Therapy Center.

Dolphins in Kemer live in their natural element

What you should know about the keeping of our dolphins:

  • It is often said that dolphins cannot be held in custody by people. The internationally acclaimed scientist Dr. Randall Wells has after many years made the assessment that there are no differences between wild dolphins and tame dolphins in respect to their lifespan.
  • Our dolphins are held in an open expansive enclosure of sea water in Kemer bay, unique in Europe
  • The dolphins live in their natural element in a 3000 sq.m. and 9m. deep floating sea water pool and preserve their Frequency and Sonar capabilities which are so important for the therapy
  • The biological balance is preserved, as is the hygiene which is natural – no requirement for harmful chemicals
  • Our 4 dolphins have 15 million liters of natural sea water as habitat – this is unique

Dolphin therapy seawater pool in Kemer

Ask a dolphin protectionist why

  • every year 300.000 dolphins have to die in fishing nets?
  • many sea mammals die because of submarine sonar systems
  • every year 15000 dolphins and small whales are massacred in Japan, Faroe Isles, Norway, Denmark, Iceland and other islands?
  • in Germany 17 dolphins are held in captivity?
  • Ric O´Barry, the Actor known as the ‚Flipper trainer’ and so-called ‚dolphin expert’ has for his dealings with dolphins been fined by US Courts for 40.000 US$ and in a second case for 20.000 US$?

We are always ready to talk about the subject of the protection of animals and species and we are in constant contact with many animal protection institutions, environmental organisations, societies for the disabled, rehabilitation centers, Ministries, Universities and other interested parties.

We at Onmega support animal protection actively, and financially, and share the same aims as whale and dolphin protectionists. However we distance ourselves from uninformed and misinformed critics of dolphin therapy centers of any type – a new center has been opened in the Amazon successfully using blind river dolphins with disabled children.

What can we achieve together?

  • Let us set up a constructive and pertinent dialogue for everyone
  • Take part in the internet discussion – with your personal experiences – to give animal protectionists more insight into dolphin therapy. We are always ready to help should the discussion take a wrong turn or become too one-sided
  • At “” you can let us know of discussions and you can always turn to us with questions. We guarantee a reply and would give you support backed up by our years of experience
  • Write a short Therapy Report, if you haven’t done so already, so that we can publish it on our web-site. We want to give our best to the rehabilitation of our disabled children, whether it has been scientifically proven or not.
