Dolphin Therapy Follow-up Report from Mara

Follow-up Report about progress made by Mara since the Holtgrave Family’s Dolphin Therapy

Hello Barbara!

Sorry, that i am writing only now – but time is passing really quickly!!

Mara is now in her new play school! And it went very well! She has blended in very well – play school is no big deal for Mara!

She has really made enormous progress – even in the past weeks! Somehow she has grown up – losing her first tooth making room for a new one maybe has something to do with appearances – but also inwardly…..she managed so well with changing play school, in between she was on holiday with her Uncle, even learnt to ride a bike there (naturally one had to run alongside) – it’s a lot of fun with her, especially to witness these developments enfolding – which we put down to her dolphin therapy! First Report from Mara Holtgrave after Dolphin Therapy on 03.06.2010

Hello Barbara!!

Best wishes from, at long last, sunny Münster. We arrived back safely but are missing you all a lot!!

Our first surprise was at night in Düsseldorf airport, waiting for the shuttle bus, when Mara said : “When is our Dolmuc coming?” – we had only driven twice with the Dolmuc and hadn’t used the word much! 😉 Read the rest of this entry »

Janik with the “Angels of the Seas”

Posted by Dolphin Therapy Team in Help, Sponsoring & Stories,Media Reports,Therapy Testimonials1 Comment »/

The seriously disabled Janik Schröder from Bad Ditzenbach in Germany took part in Dolphin Therapy in Turkey for 2 weeks. This was made possible through donations – also from GZ readers.

Article from Geislinger Newspaper, 16.07.2010, Author: Claudia Burst

“Schblasch”, answered Janik Schröder beaming at the question to what “his” dolphin was called. This “Splash” had decisively contributed to the fact that Janik can now live with more self-confidence. The eleven year old boy from Bad Ditzenbach was with his Grandparents for two weeks in Kemer, Turkey, for Dolphin Therapy.

Alex Plank, the founder of WrongPlanet.net, a popular web community for individuals with Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, ADHD, PDDs, and other neurological differences has shared a movie on YouTube. It is a critically acclaimed documentary film about autism by an autistic film director. ‘Autism Reality’ is a moving interview-based piece that shows a new and refreshing side of this issue.

Don’t watch this movie unless you have 10 minutes to spare. You’ll want to watch the whole thing!

Please leave a comment about your thoughts on that film. What is your favorite video on YouTube about autism or other neurological differences?

Dolphin Therapy: Great breakthrough for Silas

Posted by Dolphin Therapy Team in Therapy TestimonialsNo Comments »/

Written by Siggi Waidler

We have experienced 2 wonderful weeks in a beautiful environment.

It was a time that we will never forget. A super team – from Management, personal attention, Driver, Interpreter right up to the Therapists and Doctors (Physiotherapy and Dolphin Therapy) – friendly, helpful, one’s every wish was catered for!  It was the first Dolphin Therapy for Silas, our 12 year old foster child.
Due to past occurrences, the boy is extremely psychologically handicapped, he suffers acute anxiety, massive Auto aggression and an atypical Autism.

Our experiences are difficult to put into words, but because Silas has a Communication-help (Talker), here follows a small excerpt from his own words:

  • animals freed head for new knowledge
  • I brought old things out of my brain
  • it was very interesting for me
  • Mischel was very helpful
  • I experience lots of new things about myself
  • I will miss the animals very much
  • my thoughts are clear, my words better Read the rest of this entry »

Dolphin therapy in Kemer for Nico

Posted by Dolphin Therapy Team in Media Reports,Therapy TestimonialsNo Comments »/

Written by Nico Herrmann

Experiences of the Herrmann´s about Dolphin Therapy Kemer (Turkey)

Thanks to your help we were able to undertake dolphin therapy in Kemer for our son Nico this year. Your dolphinarium has been open since May and that is a good reason to inform you of our positive reactions.

After 3 hours flight we arrived in Dalaman, Turkey, on the 11.06.07. A transfer bus awaited us at the Airport that took us to the Kemer Resort Dolphin park through beautiful countryside, hills covered with stone pines. Kemer lies in a secluded bay in the middle of this wonderful landscape. The Kemer dolphin park is only a half hour from the town of Kemer. The Kemer dolphin park, a large Hotel complex, is set apart from tourism in the Nature Park of the Hisarönü Gulf.

Here we were welcomed by Axel and Elena Linke, who were to be our contacts during our stay. Read the rest of this entry »

The 16 year-old Jasmin Götz

Posted by Dolphin Therapy Team in Dolphin Therapy NewsNo Comments »/

The 16 year-old Jasmin Götz is physically and mentally seriously disabled and also blind

Jasmin Götz had a very unlucky start to her life. Even though a heart problem had been diagnosed shortly after her birth she was given oxygen over a long period on the grounds that she had too little oxygen in her blood. It was too much oxygen, though, due to her heart condition her little body could not absorb and produce it, says Hettwig, her mother. By the time the machine was turned off the brain was seriously damaged and Jasmin was blind. Since then she also suffers from so called Tetraspasticity. Read the rest of this entry »

Fund Raising Campaign makes Dolphin Therapy possible

Jasmin Götz from Unterspiesheim, blind, mentally and physically disabled, has returned home with her parents from dolphin therapy in Turkey. It has done her the world of good.

How the disablement evolved

Complications at her birth led to blindness and Tetraspasticity. (a condition affecting posture and movement, up to paralysis, due to overworking muscles in arms and legs – Greek = four) Jasmin must not only have constant care. To date she has had six operations, including on her heart and hips. Read the rest of this entry »
