Fund Raising Campaign makes Dolphin Therapy possible

Jasmin Götz from Unterspiesheim, blind, mentally and physically disabled, has returned home with her parents from dolphin therapy in Turkey. It has done her the world of good.

How the disablement evolved

Complications at her birth led to blindness and Tetraspasticity. (a condition affecting posture and movement, up to paralysis, due to overworking muscles in arms and legs – Greek = four) Jasmin must not only have constant care. To date she has had six operations, including on her heart and hips.

During the week their 17 year old daughter attends a boarding school for the disabled the Würzburger Heuchelhof. She is at home in Wirtsweg in Unterspiesheim for the holidays, at week ends and when she is ill. The dolphin therapy was made possible through a fund raising campaign amongst the local population

Alternative school meals

The classes of the Primary school Kolitzheim went without their school meals and instead bought sandwiches and apples donated from the Wein- and Obstbaubetrieb Franz Wieland in Stammheim. Moreover two fathers of pupils donated their Jubilee payment of 260 Euro so that 750 Euro could be presented to the Götz family.

The Albert-Schweitzer school in Schweinfurt staged a marathon race to raise money for Jasmin Götz. Also collections were made by the Communion children in Unterspiesheim, Grettstadt and Gernach for the dolphin therapy.

Presents waived

Guntram and Rosemarie Langhirt went without birthday presents and collected instead for Jasmin. Also Peter, Dagmar and Henning Gleitsmann, as well as work colleagues of Uwe Götz at the Gleitsmann saw mill and the staff of the VR-Bank Gerolzhofen-Unterspiesheim. The Förderverein Hambach and Michael Reuss donated 4000 Flyers that were printed for the campaign, and also the money from various firms through the advertising. Lastly the collection boxes filled by the public in Banks, Surgeries, Chemists and shops in Unterspiesheim and nearby.

And everything without receipts

Through appeals, also in this newspaper, it was possible in the space of only six weeks to collect the necessary amount, and that without receipts.
