THE parents of a severely disabled north-east boy have launched an appeal to send the youngster for pioneering dolphin therapy in Turkey.
Six-year-old Ethan Scott, from Fraserburgh, has autism, epilepsy and suffers from extreme behavioural problems and was once described by nursery teachers as the most complex child they had ever taught.
His parents, Victoria and Robert, are now hoping to raise the £4,300 needed for the dolphin programme in Kemer, in the south-west of the country.
The course is run by marine biological psychologists and Mr and Mrs Scott hope it could make even the smallest difference to Ethan’s condition.
“If there’s even the slightest glimmer of hope we’re going to pursue it,” his mother said.
Mrs Scott, 26, added: “It was my mum who learned about the course during a holiday to Turkey.
“This time it will be far from a family holiday and we really hope it will make a difference.” Read the rest of this entry »

Dear friends,
we would like to give a hearty thanks to all our young patients and their families, and also to all dolphin friends, for their trust and support. All the unforgettable hours of joy shared in our Dolphin Therapy Center in Kemer will remain in our hearts.

The new forms of communication have given us the opportunity to present a little winter special: The coming days will be quiet also in Kemer. We would be very glad to hear from our little angels and dolphin friends. Tell us what’s new at home? Send us a picture or video or write us a short story using our Dolphin Therapy Facebook page. News of Dolphin Family Life …
Posted by Dolphin Therapy Team in Mixed Info2 Comments »/News from our dolphin family, Flip with Daisy and Splash with Frosia, making amorous advances.
For the first time, and in the hope of pairing, the Onmega Therapy Team in Kemer opened the gates of all three sea-water pools, which contain 3500 cu.m. and 15 Mio.L. of natural sea-water, so that all four dolphins were together.
Our rascal Splash, 9 years old, just out of puberty, straightaway angled the lovely and clever virgin Frosia, 14 years old, and is trying with sporty fervour to win her favour and solve his testosterone problem. Read the rest of this entry »

Dolphins can help Ralph
Posted by Dolphin Therapy Team in Media Reports,Therapy TestimonialsNo Comments »/Ralph from Ichenhausen-Rieden is now more alert, relaxed and shows more interest. He is very thankful to the young people in the village who helped to make this possible. Ralph has been seriously disabled due to a lack of oxygen at birth. The young people invited many others to a congenial coffee afternoon and collected donations, a sum of 2300 Euro, to help finance a dolphin therapy in Turkey in which Ralph recently took part.
About two dozen young people in Rieden collected donations during a coffee afternoon for Ralph who is of the same age. Simon Götz, Andreas Milonas and Alexander Dehm (at the rear from the left) were able to present to Ralph Sonderholzer and his parents Centa and Edwin the sum of 2300 Euro to help pay for a special therapy. It will be „a celebration for the whole village“ said the 21 year-old Alexander Dehm of the festivities. He and his friends Simon Götz (19), Andreas Milonas (20) and another 20 young people from Rieden wanted to help finance the 5000 Euro therapy with coffee and cakes and live music in the hall at the Gasthaus Weißes Ross. Cakes and coffee were donated which made for a lovely Autumn Sunday afternoon.
At least 15 young people gave their best in the kitchen and serving the 150 guests who came not only from Rieden but also neighbouring localities. „There was a lot of coming and going“, said Simon Götz with satisfaction. They were entertained by Ralph’s brother in-law on accordeon and guitar. Also his sister Corina held a Beamer show giving first-hand information on dolphin therapy. Ralph was accompanied to the therapy in Kemer by his parents Centa and Edwin Sonderholzer as also by his sister and brother in-law Corina and Konrad Butzmann to provide 24-hour support.
This was a great success ensured mother Centa Sonderholzer. „He adjusted so well“ she said happily, and reported that her son had really enjoyed the daily 45 minute sessions in the lagoon with the dolphins. „The dolphin kissed him repeatedly“, said Centa Sonderholzer. Ralph had held his arms out, touched the dolphin, even in its mouth.

In the world of Autism, Dr. Temple Grandin is a legend. She has singularly contributed more to science’s knowledge of autism than any other one individual. There’s a reason she’s #23 on Time’s list of 100 Most Influential People… and that Hollywood is producing movies about her.

Free Dolphin Therapy Online Event
Posted by Dolphin Therapy Team in Dolphin Therapy News7 Comments »/Dolphin Therapy presents a very special possibility for mentally and physically disabled children and adults to find new ways to health and/or to alleviate their ailments.
In our Dolphin Therapy Center in Kemer, Turkey, we offer our patients individually concerted therapies. Contact with our dolphins plays a central role. But a complete therapy is important, which is why Hippo therapy in a riding school, Physiotherapy, Cranio-Sacral and Ergo therapy are integrated in our programme.
We receive many queries from affected parents as also from people interested in therapy. Now and then they are concerned or have reservations, this shows us how important it is to provide information and explanations with respect to Dolphin Therapy.
This prompted us to organize a free Dolphin Therapy online event. We will give first-hand reports on this interesting form of therapy and provide insights and background to our methods of work.
Appointed day:
Tuesday, 02.11.2010, 10.00 – 11.00 GMT / UTCAgenda:
Thanks to everyone who participated in our Dolphin Therapy webinar for their interest. For us it was a really enjoyable experience that we definitely going to repeat.
Thank you from Kirill, his mom and dad
Posted by Dolphin Therapy Team in Therapy TestimonialsNo Comments »/Dear Beata,
Dear Sema,
it seems only yesterday that we returned home from the Dolphin therapy, but in reality nearly two months have passed. We are very thankful for what you did for Kirill during the course. Kirill has progressed a lot since that! He is much more coordinated now, goes on stairs alone, without any help! He tries to jump, rides bicycle (!) and even tires riding scooter (!!) – that’s something I couldn’t even imagine! Also, he helps himself during the meals – eats with a spoon and with a fork (awkwardly, but still he does it!)

Family Raic

Hello, We can finally tell you something about our visit at your facility from 23rd June to 7th
Our Dejan has become a really funny guy since we visited you. We did not notice much of a change in him until about a month ago
It is easier for him to pronounce words and he can say up to five sentences together. It was only two or three before and only we could understand him,
whereas now he speaks much clearer and even people who do not know him very well can understand him. He is much more fun now and likes to goof around. It is very great, world class to us. His concentration in school has gotten much better. His “Spastik” is still very strong, but he relaxes quickly now when we tell him to “relax”….
We are very happy with these results and would like to come again, we hope we can!…….
We would like to thank you all again from the bottom of our hearts and give our greetings to Svetlana, Barbara,
Sahli und Koko.
See you soon. Family Raic: Djula, Dejan and Milenko
