Dolphin Therapy for Vroni

Wake up at 2am on Monday, in the car at 2:30am, in the air at 6am, arrived in Dalaman, Turkey at 8:30am. Then to the Hotel Mares by bus.

Me, Hanni and Leni have our own bedroom. We tried the pool after lunch and went to the Mini Disco after dinner. And then into bed dog-tired.

On Tuesday I saw the dolphins for the first time. I still knew Daisy, Flip and Frosia, Splash is new. Then there is a nursing dolphin that was saved from a fishing net and doesn’t yet have a name.

In the afternoon I tried on my neoprene suit in the sea. And, sh*t, I was freezing despite 24°C water temperature and 30°C outside temperature.

I played and swam with dolphin lady Daisy in the afternoon.

Thursday, June 9. It’s my birthday. My breakfast table was decorated with flowers. We lit a music candle and I unwrapped presents. Many people congratulated me. Julia and Beata sang me a birthday song in Physio. When I arrived at the dolphin park, there was a sign saying “Vroni Happy Birthday” and Renate gave me balloons. Barbara, Ricardo, Juli and everyone else sang me a song. Dolphin Daisy twittered a song for me and did a water dance.

In the evening, I was called on stage in the Mini Disco and everyone sang Happy Birthday for me.

There was no therapy on Saturday. We drove a superfast motorboat and did an ocean trip.

Our toilet was clogged. After that, there was sh*t in the room. After the Mini Disco, we had to move to another room at night. On Sunday, Daisy was just being silly all day. On Monday I swam with Frosia because Daisy is in love with Flip and was bitchy. Frosia is very young and a whirlwind.

Frosia towed Leni and Hanni through the water and then dropped them off on the shore.

In the afternoon, I went riding with Salih and sat on Luka. Full schedule on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Get up, breakfast, then gymnastics with Julia. Then changing and off to Barbara and the dolphins. Then lunch and then to Salih and the horses by bus. After dinner off to the Mini Disco.

We never went to bed before 10pm. On Thursday, dad was in the water with Frosia and Ale was observing. Mom was in the water with Daisy on Friday.

I rode on Aska, small prince. Hanni and Leni rode Aska really fast with Salih, mom rode Luka. Saturday was off, we were at the beach, I was writing a lot. In the afternoon we took a walk to Mamaris.

Sunday, June 19, my last day of therapy. Pinocchio gymnastics with Julia after breakfast. When swimming with Daisy, Hanni and Leni, then me and at the end mom and dad were allowed to go in the water. While I had craniosacral therapy in the afternoon, mom and dad had the final meeting with Barbara. Then I said goodbye to everyone in the dolphin park.

I wrote something with my Talker especially for this. Dear Barbara, Julia, Beata, Renate and everyone else, you are awesome and I felt very good with you! Thank you for all the beautiful days. Yours, Vroni. Monday we flew back home.

I hopped onto the e-wheelchair, Leni and Hanni assembled my bathroom chair. On Tuesday we mowed the lawn and I drove the cut grass to the compost. I had to drive really often because the lawn was so high.

On Wednesday, us girls bought nail polish in many colors and made ourselves pretty. Dad was all eyes when he came home from work.

There was a huge storm in the evening. It took me all week to haul away all branches and leaves. On Thursday I was at the Corpus Christi procession. On Friday I wrote all day and selected pictures for my yearbook on the computer. Saturday I rode Amigo. Then we were invited for barbecue. On Sunday we celebrated grandpa’s birthday.
