Dolphin therapy in Antalya for Nico

Experiences of the Herrmann´s about Dolphin Therapy Antalya (Turkey)

Thanks to your help we were able to undertake dolphin therapy in Antalya for our son Nico this year. Your dolphinarium has been open since May and that is a good reason to inform you of our positive reactions.

After 3 hours flight we arrived in Dalaman, Turkey, on the 11.06.07. A transfer bus awaited us at the Airport that took us to the Antalya Resort Dolphin park through beautiful countryside, hills covered with stone pines. Antalya lies in a secluded bay in the middle of this wonderful landscape. The Antalya dolphin park is only a half hour from the town of Antalya. The Antalya dolphin park, a large Hotel complex, is set apart from tourism in the Nature Park of the Hisarönü Gulf.

A lot of respect for the big animals

Respect for the big dolphinsCalmly Torsten Panhorst starts his Laptop, clicks through the programmes and begins to watch the film of his son Jan-Richard playing with the dolphins. When Jan hears the typical call of the big mammal he stops playing in the living room and races around the large dining table to see  »his« Frosia on the screen.  Jan, remarks  Mama Petra astounded yet again,  has never done that before. He has become a lot more alert through the dolphin therapy.T he fourteen days in Antalya, Turkey, were a great success for the  Panhorst family.

We didn’t mention the changes we noticed at first.reported Petra Panhorst. But it became evident even at school that something had changed”, said the 41 year old mum. Jan shows now, for example, that he is hungry. He fetches his bib on his own, remarked Papa Torsten Panhorst. Dolphin Therapy for Stephanie

Thank you for the information about the second location. As promised we have managed, at long last, to send you a short report on our experiences: Already two months have passed since we were in Kas. For us it was a very intensive, but also a very pleasant holiday. At the beginning Stephanie was not too keen on Mischa or the Therapy. But this improved after four days and most of the time she didn’t cry at all with Mischa. Slowly she found it interesting when Mischa came to her. She liked swimming with Mischa and Papa best. ( see photos)

In Kas we noticed that she could swing her legs a lot more freely when sitting. She couldn’t do that before. At home this ability deteriorated a little. Probably something to do with the colder climate?!

Report from family Hinrichs

We had some wonderful experiences in Antalya, but we also learnt that we have a lot of work before us with Jona. Jona’s integration into a ‘normal’ life will always be a tough job.

In the morning there was always swimming with Daisy, with the therapist Barbara and the trainer Amy. We found it great that the dolphins were swimming in the sea. The many helping hands always helped towards a smooth order of events.

Hello Dear Dolphin team,

First of all we wish you a healthy and successful New Year. Also thanks for your greetings. The time goes by so quickly it will be a whole year this coming May since our daughter Ev Venice was with you for dolphin therapy. And we have sooo much to thank you for. In the meantime Ev has made a lot of progress and proudly still talks about you all, especially Barbara the therapist. This is why we want to enable Ev to have another therapy.

We have our holidays again in May and if you have a place free for Ev Venice from 16 May to 30 May 2010 that would be great. Since your dolphin therapy Ev no longer requires Ergo therapy or Speech therapy, just physiotherapy. Read the rest of this entry »

So, a few months have passed by and now it is time for our report of my second dolphin therapy from 25.07.-08.08.09 in the ONMEGA-Dolphin therapy center in Antalya!!!

We liked the dolphin therapy center very much in 2008 and so we decided to go to Antalya again.

Everyone was really friendly and excellent in what they did, whether it was the therapists, trainer or trainees. Last year I was an exception because normally they accept only children from the age of two. I like animals and water so I had a great time and was impressed with  the trainer. I have made progress since the therapy in 2008 and this year I hope to make more.

Dear Barbara

There is no time for long e-mails just now.

At the moment we are happy about Frieda being able to support herself with her hands and being able to straighten her arms.

The stability of her back has markedly improved and so she can sit better, albeit with a little help.
We put these improvements down to the therapy and are waiting in suspense for further developments.

The therapy today was very emotional. Phil had a session together with Jenny (on the other side of the platform). She could just about put two words together and today she sang

Daisy, Daisy, dance with me, take both my hands, one up and one down and one time around, it’s easy ON HER OWN. Her mother Sibylle cried tears of joy. Now that was really something. Phil also was working well except that he didn’t want to brush Frosia’s teeth. Just now I went to the bathroom and I heard behind me Phil’s coming too’’ (yes, that was the voice of my son). Hello Barbara,

nice to see that you have included my report in your web-site.

Jennifer is really flourishing. I’m just starting to train her not to use nappies and she is complying really well. During the day she doesn’t need them at all. Sometimes there is a mishap but we are happy over the progress.

But the best thing is that she sings a lot. Often just on her own, but then I smile inwardly and it gives me a lift to see how she is developing.

I have recently even begun to play Memory with her. With a bit of help it works well. I am really proud. And she beams (more progress) because she will soon start school. No more play school. I give a broad smile back every time…..
