Dolphin Therapy Vroni Turkey
I have off and dad too, Leni and Hanni have to go to school. At home we get everything ready for Turkey. As promised, Hanni may cut dad’s hair. She opts for a short hairstyle with BD logo for Big Daddy at the back. In the evening there is a school concert of Hanni and Leni in the City Theatre. Hanni plays horn and Leni plays tuba.
Saturday, May 31
In the early morning, shortly before 3, it’s off to the airport. At the airport we meet Amelie. Now, the check-in starts. The security guards search me and my wheelie very thoroughly. Now finally on the plane. I sit next to Leni. We take off into the sunrise. Above the clouds, on the way from Europe to Asia, I and Leni are eating Asian chicken. After about three hours touchdown in Turkey. We see orange groves and the sea. Landed safely at the airport in Dalaman.
Outside the airport, a driver is waiting for us. With his A-Team bus it takes a good hour to get to the hotel. Just in time for lunch. There is a huge choice of main courses and dessert and we fill up our bellies. After we settled into our accommodation we walk around the hotel, enjoy the sea view with a Coke and later we go to the pool. The ice-cream man still knows us!
Sunday, June 1
After breakfast we went to the pool. After a fresh bath some warm up on the sun deck. After lunch we went to the dolphin area for organizing the therapies. I met many friends from my last visit to Turkey. The therapists Barbara and Julia, as well as the dolphins Daisy, Splash, Frosi and Jonas. Juli does KG and dolphin swimming with me. After I tried on my suit, we go to the sea and Amelie painted my nails while the others bathed in the sea, looked for shells and found a starfish.
At dinner we were surprised by heavy rain. It was pretty chaotic. Next to us, the table of a German lady was cleared as she was getting a drink. GUTEMINE, we called her, complained to the waiter, “I hold some water and it was away”. Our holiday slogan.
Monday, June 2
At breakfast Mustafa wanted to look at Amelie’s tattoo. Then we went to physiotherapy with Julia. After lunch, off to the dolphins. Together with trainer Maria and assistant Isabella, Julia and I were with Splash. The others had to watch from outside while I was working and swimming with Splash and Juli for the first time.
After Amelie looked for her room card, which she put in a trash can somewhere together with her trash, we are going window-shopping. Besides some ice-cream we bought nothing, it was only the first attempt to warm up. After a sumptuous dinner with tons of pudding for dessert I briefly watched the mini disco and then a colorful performance by a Turkish dance group. But this didn’t really get me excited and that’s why we ended the evening at the Sultan bar with a cocktail.
Tuesday, June 3
In the morning I’m back to doing walking exercises with Julia. Amelie’s stomach hurts and she is recovering in the massage chair. Afterwards, we are at the pool. The gym and the fresh water make me tiiiiiired.
After lunch, I’m back to my dolphin Splash. Massaging feet, hold the tail fin, throwing rings, ball. After swimming, showering off the salt water and then a splendid recovery sleep in the bed. Freshly we are going window-shopping again. On the way we meet a cuddly new friend, a very sweet stray dog. Amy would have loved to take him with us.
When shopping we don’t hold back this time. Genuine fake bags for Leni, a swimming shark for Hanni and trying on hats until the warden, I mean my nice saleswoman, almost exploded.
Wednesday, June 4
In the morning physiotherapy with Julia again. I was tired and listless. Julia was angry and scolded me. After lunch back to dolphin therapy with Splash. In the afternoon the 6 of us and my wheelchair took a little Fiat taxi into the city of Antalya. After the first tour of the market we bought ice cream to cool down. Then the shopping fever gripped us. Ami seeks me out a dress for the prom, I buy a gift for Michi and then everyone gets cool Adidas jogging suits. Finally, we buy the entire lamp shop. Sellers are enraptured by us five German top models. Amy uses this when negotiating.
Now we are really hungry. Amelie takes us to dinner. I eat Pizza Frutti. Afterwards, we stroll along the harbor. At 10:58 speaks a shopkeeper tells us to hurry, because it will be raining at 11 clock. And indeed, at precisely 11 clock and 20 meters from the nearest taxi it starts to pour in full. I and my wheelchair frantically get stuffed into the cab, which does not work that way. The water on the road is ankle-deep. The taxi takes us to the hotel.
Thursday, June 5
In the morning I did gymnastics with Julia. I really put in a lot of effort and she praised me. Good job Vroni. Amelie was well again and she was able to enjoy the massage chair again.
After gymnastics we head straight to the pool. Mommy, Amelie and I rested, while Leni and Hanni took underwater pictures with Papa. In the afternoon, Amelie was allowed into the water with Splash. She petted him, scratched his tongue, kissed and danced with him.
He pushed her with his nose on her foot through the water like Superwoman and at the end she held on to his fin while he dragged her through the water. Later we went to the beach. After water aerobics I rested with Amelie on the shore while the others went swimming in the sea. Afterwards we went to dinner. And as always, I ate plenty of dessert pudding.
We had the whole afternoon off, because I was with Splash right in the morning at 10 o’clock and then at cranio. We rented a 115 horsepower strong speedboat and flitted over the wavy sea. Boss Papa steered the boat safely and quickly and us five girls enjoyed the view and gasped because of the strong spray.
Later, Hanni, Mommy and Amelie took over the wheel. We stopped in a quiet bay and the others jumped into the sea. Just in time for dinner, we were back in the harbor. Very hungry, we secured the pudding stocks in the restaurant. At the Sultan Bar we then ended the day with a cocktail.
Saturday, June 7
Saturday was therapy-free and, sadly, Amelie’s last day. After a long breakfast she says GOODBYE to Mustafa. In the morning we go down to the beach and Amelie paints my toenails. At noon Amy has to check out, again briefly to the pool and by 4 o’clock we must say goodbye to Amy. Later Hanni and Leni play dolphin therapy with me at the pool. Leni is Splash, Hanni is Maria and dad is Julia.
Sunday, June 8
On Sunday morning we are off to the dolphin. Mama is allowed to swim with Splash today. After an extended lunch break we bought a gift for Katja. In the elevator, I met the saxophone player of the night band
and gave him a lot of kisses. In turn he pushed me up the inclined plane.
Monday, June 9 – My 17th Birthday
After getting up, there was a birthday song and the first gift, pajamas. At breakfast, I get a blue cuddly monster. With Leni I ate 17 pancakes with plenty of chocolate sauce. Julia and Barbara sing happy birthday when I arrive at the dolphins, Splash dances for me. Afterwards there was a birthday cake from the hotel in the lobby. I got more gifts: A SURVIVAL SET FOR LADIES made by Mommy, Leni and Hanni, from Hanni a lucky mushroom, from dad new songs on the Talker.
From Grandpa and Martina tickets for the musical Mama Mia in Stuttgart and from my parents tickets for The Magic Flute at the Bregenz Seefestspiele. After lunch I have a relaxing CranioSacral Therapy with Sema. Later we went to the beach with my new Lady Survival Kit with makeup, nail care, color and tattoo.
At night we three girls slept on the balcony under a Turkish full moon and with loud music coming from Antalya
Tuesday, June 10
Today Leni and Hanni are allowed to swim with the dolphin. They pet Splash, get dragged through the water and jizzed by him. In the afternoon we take a taxi boat to Antalya. My wheelchair is too big for the boat and I have to stand at the bow. In Antalya we have some ice cream and waffles in the Cafe Aspirin.
At the port we meet Captain Sultain Suleiman with his little 8 week old puppy. Hanni almost stole it from him. After a stroll through the old town of Antalya and some shopping at BillaBong we found a nice place to eat at the beach. There, we met Klaus and Marlis from Oldenburg. Late at night back to the hotel in the damp taxi and back to the balcony to sleep.
Wednesday, June 11
At 10 clock in the morning I’m back to Julia for gymnastics and bungee walking. She said that Papa is allowed to swim with Splash in the afternoon. At 2 o’clock we therefore were at the dolphins. First I showed Dad how Splash can jump and splash and how to caress him best.
Then Splash gave Papa kisses, but Dad looked uptight somehow. Then action was the word. First Papa let Splash drag him through the water and finally the ultimate Mega Superman. Papa has to firmly stretch out one leg, Splash comes with his snout and catapults him through and partially over the water. I want too, I want too, Leni and Hanni said. Julia said, I WILL THINK ABOUT
Thursday 12 June
We have breakfast on the terrace and watch the AIDA passing by. Then off to the last day of therapy. First Cranio with Sema and then a couple of walking exercises with Julia. In the afternoon one last time to the dolphin platform, Leni and Hanni are curious if they are allowed into the water with Splash again. Julia says yes. But first I’m allowed to work with Splash. Then it’s their turn. First, Hanni and Leni may do Superwoman with Splash.
Then we all go into the water to the dolphin, pet him, let him sing, dance and play WATERPIPE with him. In Waterpipe, Splash dives under, fills his mouth with water, appears and sprays all over us. Then Splash pulls us back to the platform one by one. On the platform we feed Splash, he does a somersault for us and sprays us one last time wet.
Now mom, dad and Splash come onto the platform and we take a farewell picture. Hanni painted pictures for Julia, Mary and Isabell and gives them to them. Then final interview with Julia. We keep hug very tightly and hope we meet again. In the evening we are invited to the Captain’s Dinner on the beach. A band is playing.
Friday, June 13
We have no therapy and sleep really long and already start to pack. At lunch I have a pudding orgy with Leni again. Leni says in my veins there is no more blood flowing but pudding. The empty pudding glasses we piled into a tower, which unfortunately falls over. The floor is full of glass splinters. In the afternoon we get some ice-cream from our Turkish friend and then down to the sea.
Hanni, Leni and Dad are driving BIG MARBLE. This is a huge swimming ring, which is pulled through the sea by a speed boat. I and Mama are allowed to ride in the speedboat.
In the evening we go to the beach at full moon, enjoy the view of the sea for one last time and take a lot of funny pictures. Before we sleep on the balcony under the open sky Turkish one last time, we have a farewell cocktail overlooking the dolphin pool and the harbor promenade of Antalya.
Saturday, June 14, the day of the journey back home
After breakfast we go to the beach. Leni and Hanni really want to go drive Fly Fish. A huge air mattress that is pulled across the sea by a speedboat and lifts into the air.
In the beginning, they still have fun, but that changes rapidly. Their screaming and shouting was heard to the shore. Then Papa went parasailing using the last of our Turkish Lira. He was flying and I, Leni, Hanni and Mama were riding in the speedboat that was pulling him.
At 4 o’clock we had to get out of the room. At five the bus brought us to the airport. We take off at 8:30. Bye Asia, bye Turkey!
At half past eleven at night we are on Bavarian soil again. And because the aircraft rolls tasted so bad despite Hanni’s enhancements we strengthened ourselves in the American restaurant. Shortly before one o’clock at night we were home. A quick bath to wash away the salty sea water and then sleep.
Sunday, June 15
First we sleep in for a long time. Then I unpack the rest of my birthday gifts. An insect house, a totally cool disco fog machine, and new shoes. For lunch, I drive my ERolli to Cafe Brotzeit and eat white sausages.
In the late afternoon we drive to the Pentecost festival. It’s the last day and you have to take advantage of that. After driving in the Leopard track we go to the lottery. A lucky day. I draw Munich and Hanni Nuremberg, two main prizes. We three girls pick a football megaphone and a GALILEOFUN set.
For dinner we take cheese with a giant pretzel and gingerbread cookies with us. In the we watched Willi wills wissen.
Monday, June 16
Because the garden has quite proliferated the last two weeks, there was plenty to do for me and dad. We also started to pick pictures for the Me-Book. At night we watched the soccer game Germany vs. Portugal.
Tuesday, June 17
I, Leni and Hanni put away all the freshly washed holiday laundry. Papi is in the garden. When I look for him, I see that he cut a huge pile of branches from the trees. That’s what happens when you leave the man alone! So I drive off and get the chopper. The chopped material I am driving to the compost.
Wednesday, June 18
The whole day at home in the garden, only for lunch we go for pizza with Katja.
Thursday, June 19, Corpus Christi
I rode along with the parade. For lunch we had barbecue. Then we went to eat ice cream. In the afternoon we made ourselves comfortable in the garden. Put some water in the stone trough and bathed and ate cherries, raspberries, strawberries and melon.
Friday, June 20.
Mama had to work again. I have done a lot of work on the Me-Book with dad. In the evening we went to Sinnessenz for ice cream again. Like every day, mattress camp with movie.
Saturday, June 21
Finally horseback riding again. I am rode out to FLY. Then we met in the city for lunch. Afterwards we were in the garden and I finished the Me-Book. In the evening we watched the nail-biter football match Germany vs. Ghana.
