Close to midnight of 9th of January [9 01 2009 ]… Axel Linke owner of ONMEGA Ltd. dolphin therapy center in Antalya receives a phone call from Coast Guard of Fethiye and owner of Diving Center Fethiye sea biologist Maryam Tekin and Jane Tuna… A Dolphin or whale had been found in Fethiye bay and its understood that he can not find a way out of bay…
Nearly midgnight, Axel Linke owner of Onmega Ltd. Dolphin Therapy Center in Antalya, Elena Gerasimova (Onmega Director), Sven Parmiter (Rescue Diver) and Vasili Grinov (Dolphin Trainer and sea mammal specialist) [ONMEGA] starts to ride from Antalya to Fethiye help the Coast Guard rescue the lost Mammal in the Bay… After arrival, at the end of a long time looking for a rescue boat, finally a diver team allocates theirs’ for the rescue operation.
“If a a dolphin or whale decides to suicide you can not easily change his mind..” says Axel Linke ” If a sea mammal stay in a bad situation or a zone, and if he can not find a way to go out, he may decide to die and you see it in his eyes, that closed with despair. And he was like that … Eyes closed and hopeless..”
When the sea mammal has been rescued and drawnback to his own natural life with dedicated efforts of Underwater Research Foundation ( Sualtı Araştırmaları Derneği), Sea Mammals Research Group ( Deniz Memelileri Araştırma Grubu ), International Sea Protection Organizations (Uluslararası Deniz Koruma Örgütleri) and Onmega Sea Mammals rescue team, it was morning…
On the moment of rescue, a photo of sea mammal send to Specailists of Sea Mammals in United Kingdom and its reported back that the mammal was not a Dolphin like it was supposed but a Whale that could be seen rarely..
